"YAMADA-RYOKAN", Otari-ONSEN

Here is depth of the mountains near from Hakuba, Otari-mura (village).

I was just driving along mountain path around Otari-mura to take a ONSEN without any info, and found here!

The ONSEN of this area is called "OTARI-ONSEN", and have 2 ONSEN hotels. This building is one of them, and called "YAMADAKAN".
The wooden building looks very old, but has kept been in good repair, and still has special aura.

A lady working here told me it was built in last years of EDO-era.
EDO-era!!

It's in the days of the Tokugawa shogunate during 1603-1868.
SAMURAI-era!
"Last years of the era" means around 19c. and this beautiful wooden old building keeps standing here for more than 200 years.

This is the entrance.
Could you see the green label on the wall? It's written "YUKEI BUNKAZAI".
It identifies the historic, artistic and academic worth of this building by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.

Pay the fee at the reception desk, let's go to the bathroom!
Right side is for men, left side is for women. Over the door, it's locker room.
We take off the clothes here, but you know, this room has frosted grasses on the passage side, be care not to stand by the side.
(Don't worry, the shadow doesn't come out clear!)

The ONSEN water is clear. It contains iron enough, so the bus tub, floor tile, and wall are covered minerals. You should be surprised the state! And the volume of the water is also surprising! Amazing!!
The bathroom is not large, but for 3 to 5 persons. Maybe, this is not so crowded because of the location, so you can just enjoy your time.

After taking a bath, relax here.
This is next to the bath room. It's dim a little bit, but you can find a natural light from the bottom of the passage, and green.
The scene is so fantastic! You should be satisfied with the space and the special time.
